Human Nature Designs Joins Brands for Public Lands

We’re thrilled to share that Human Nature Designs, your favorite Colorado-based national park brand, has joined Brands for Public Lands, a coalition of businesses in the outdoor industry standing together to protect and defend the wild places that inspire us every day.

As a woman-owned Colorado brand rooted in the belief that our connection to nature is what keeps us thriving, this mission hits close to home. The mountains, rivers, forests, and national parks that inspire our stickers, camping mugs, and art prints are more than colorful doodles - they’re homages to the places we go to reset, recharge, and feel connected. None of that is possible without protected, accessible public lands.

What is Brands for Public Lands?

Brands for Public Lands is a coalition led by The Conservation Alliance that brings together over 130+ businesses across the country to stand up for the places we all love. From outdoor gear makers to local retailers, these companies are uniting to protect our public lands and waters from threats like land sell-offs, weakened protections, and industrial extraction.

Why are public lands important?

Public lands are where we hike, camp, fish, ski, and wander. They’re where we go to remember our intrinsic connection with world around us. They’re also the backbone of a $1.2 trillion outdoor recreation economy that supports millions of jobs. For Colorado brands and national park makers like Human Nature Designs, these landscapes are the foundation of our creativity and community. Take away protected public lands, and you take away the places that keep our spirits, our communities, and our creativity thriving.

What kinds of threats are public lands facing right now?

Unfortunately, there are efforts happening at federal levels to sell off, defund, or develop our nation’s lands for short-term gain. This includes rolling back protections for national monuments, prioritizing drilling and mining over conservation, and undermining bedrock environmental laws. Once a landscape is sold or scarred by extraction, there’s no getting it back.

What is the coalition working on?

Brands for Public Lands is focused on three core areas:

  1. Stopping the sell-off of public lands – Once our wild places are sold, they’re gone forever. Protecting them ensures that future generations can hike, camp, and connect with nature instead of losing access to short-term profit.

  2. Defending national monuments – These lands preserve our nation’s history, culture, and biodiversity. Protecting them means our children inherit not only the beautiful places themselves, but the stories and traditions rooted in them.

  3. Safeguarding iconic landscapes from industrial extraction – Drilling and mining may bring temporary gain, but they leave permanent scars. Protecting these places ensures clean water, healthy ecosystems, and thriving outdoor economies that last.

Why is Human Nature Designs getting involved?

At Human Nature Designs, every national park sticker, Colorado-inspired gift, and nature-inspired keepsake we create is rooted in the wild places that make us feel alive. From the Rockies to the redwoods, these lands are our muse. For small makers like us (especially when compared to big box stores), giving back to nature isn’t just a cause to get us more sales—it’s the reason we exist. Joining Brands for Public Lands is one more way we’re putting our values into action.

How does this fit with your other commitments?

We’re proud members of 1% for the Planet and support nonprofits like the The Nature Conservancy and National Park Foundation. With every purchase of our nature-inspired gifts, a portion goes back to protecting wild places, waters, and wildlife. Partnering with Brands for Public Lands strengthens that commitment by joining forces with other Colorado brands and outdoor companies across the U.S. to create change on a bigger scale.

What can we all do?

We believe everyone has a role in protecting public lands. That might look like supporting conservation nonprofits, electing representatives with our same values, or simply spending time outdoors to build your own connection. The more we value these places, the stronger the movement to keep them wild and accessible for future generations.

At Human Nature Designs, we believe protecting public lands is about more than conservation—it’s about protecting the places that shape our memories, fuel our creativity, and connect us back to what matters most. By joining Brands for Public Lands, we’re standing with other Colorado brands, national park makers, and outdoor businesses to make sure these wild spaces remain open and thriving for generations to come.
