The Adventuress Soap Co. offers travel-inspired fragrances, soaps, perfumes, and bath products, each designed to transport you to destinations around the world and spark wanderlust in your everyday rituals.
What is the story and meaning behind why you started your business?
Hi, I’m Julie — the adventuress behind The Adventuress Soap Co.
This brand was born from my passion for travel and my deep belief in the power of scent to transport us. I’ve always been a traveler at heart — the kind who follows curiosity wherever it leads. Over the years, that spirit has taken me across Europe, through misty waterfalls in Iceland, on camel rides through the Egyptian desert, into temples in Hong Kong where I once had my fortune read, and across countless mountain trails in my home state of Colorado. I’ve lived in Shanghai, wandered through night markets in Asia, and summited alpine peaks with a backpack and a dream.
The idea for The Adventuress Soap Co. first sparked while I was living in China. One warm afternoon, I was walking along the tree-lined streets of Shanghai, when the scent of incense drifted through the humid air and stopped me in my tracks. It instantly transported me — and I realized how powerful fragrance can be. What if I could bottle up the places I loved and share them with others?
That question led to a journey of creativity and experimentation, and in 2018, The Adventuress Soap Co. was officially born. Since then, I’ve been handcrafting soaps, perfumes, and bath products inspired by destinations around the world and moments from my own travels — each one designed to stir your wanderlust, awaken memories, and bring a little magic to your daily rituals.
What is the biggest lesson you have learned about life from owning a business?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned about life from owning a business is to take risks and just start. You never really know where the adventure may take you, and sometimes the scariest leaps turn into the most rewarding experiences. Starting before you feel fully ready has opened doors I never could have imagined.
What’s the magic of buying from a small maker versus a big box store?
The magic of buying from a small maker is that you’re getting something truly unique, created with love and intention. Unlike big box stores, where products can feel mass-produced, small makers infuse their artistry and creativity into every item. You can feel the heart and story behind what they create, and that makes the experience so much more special.
